What a long year...

← Back to home

As we approach the middle of the year, I like to do a retrospective on what has happened and what my goals are for the second half of the year.

Regarding work, I have been promoted to Director, travelled a bit to Boston, and improved team production/morale in a short period of time.  I really enjoy facilitating others reaching success.  It is really a great feeling.

Regarding personal goals, I took a writing class that really helped me identify some key areas that I need to work on and the most important one is consistency.  I think that is important in almost every area.  I did crossfit for a while but decided to take a break and built out my own garage gym.  I ran a 5k already this year and going to participate in the Peachtree 10k this year.  I need to get used to the heat while I am running, it really drains you.

All in all, it has been an exhausting year with travel, some personal things, and of course work.

So for the next 6 months of this year, I want to write more. I don't want to be a great writer, but I want to be a consistent writer. I think stream of consciousness gets some great ideas out of your head. I know typing only goes so far... I believe that handwriting goes much farther than typing. I can definitely type faster than handwriting but LifeHacker explains why handwriting helps you learn better (see it here).  So maybe I should start WRITING and then transfer it to electronic media, after a few edits.

My question for anyone reading this is what do you want to hear about?  They always say, write what you know... so let's see what do I know?   I guess I would consider myself a jack of all trades, but that master of none is debatable... I am a pretty good developer (C#, JavaScript) and I love public speaking.  The thing I think I am really good at is helping others identify what they need to do to get to the next level of whatever they want to achieve.  Yes, I know it kind of falls into a life coach concept, but I am not a certified life coach, but I think I have some amazing techniques that may help the professionals.  :-)  I could talk about my experience in the military, or navigating corporate america.   I don't know.  I think I just want to write about my life, but what I have learned is that I can't talk about everything that I want to talk about.  There are NDAs, privacy issues, and just common respect for others... names changed to protect the innocent.  Hmm...

Anyway, this is my start to babble tonight.   I'm not going to post this to a lot of places, but I'm sure people who follow me will read it... thanks for following me and love to hear from you.  If there is something I can do to help you, let me know, if I have the time, I'm in!

Thanks for stopping by...
